A day at Westdale

Clubs and activities

There are lots of activities to do at lunchtime and after school. Not all of these clubs run all year round but this pages should give you a good idea of the things we can do.

Music

Choir is held every Wednesday at lunch time. Mr. Caldwell plays the piano and Mr. Jennings teaches us the songs. We sing various types of songs and we usually preform concerts every term.

The school also has an orchestra. It practices on Mondays at lunch time with Mr. Jennings. Children can also learn to play the recorder at lunch time (with Mr. Jennings or Mrs. Tupholme) and Music Club takes place after school on Fridays.

Some of the children have violin lessons. The teacher comes in to school on Mondays and after school Mr. Caldwell runs 'Fiddling For Fun' for the violinists to play together. Other children have flute lessons when the teacher comes in on Tuesdays.

Sport

We have school football teams for boys (run by Mr Slater) and for girls (run by Miss Kilbane), an athletics team run by Mr Jennings and Miss Kilbane. They practice after school and take part in area competitions. In the summer, Mr Slater runs a Tag Rugby Club and Mrs Hopkinson have a Quik Cricket Club.

The YMCA Sport in the Community also runs an after-school PE session.
