Years 3 and 4 went on a school trip to Rufford for the day.
First, after going to the toilets, we had walk through the woods. We saw a toad, caterpillars and other small creatures. We went to the lake and had an ice cream while sitting and watching the ducks before we caught the bus back to school.
It was a great day even though it was rather wet. Fortunately, the bus driver put the fans on hot on to dry out our coats!
Some of us, however, managed to step into rock pools and get wet that way! It was windy and not very warm, but that did not stop us having a wonderful time exploring the caves, the lighthouse and the beaches of the North and South Landing.
We were given an interesting talk and guided tour of the life boat house and watched a video about the work of the RNLI.
After that we investigated raising and lowering a narrow boat in a canal lock and using hot air to raise a large hot air balloon. We looked through microscopes and gave each other little (static) electric shocks. One popular activity was a maze of mirrors - rather like a Hall of Mirrors at a fair. You had to find your way through the maze without bumping into the mirrors. We also had a go designing layouts for bedrooms or kitchens using computers.
